I’ve been thinking about these parallels for the past few months.

As anticipation rises for the arrival of our child heightens,

I couldn’t help but contemplate the stark parallels

between waiting for a baby and waiting to get married.

In both times of waiting,

there are so many people who are checking up on you,

seeking to know how you’re doing in this waiting season

and more often then not several variations of the following question
arises

(from what I choose to believe comes from a genuine place of caring)

” Are you excited”?

And much like while we were engaged and people would ask that regarding our wedding day,

when it’s asked of us now regarding our labor/delivery day

Of course we’re excited!

But I will say much like the engagement,

getting to the wedding day is just the beginning,

it’s just part of what
we’re excited for.

We’re in it for the
long haul; we’re in it for marriage.

Likewise throughout pregnancy,

getting to the delivery day is just the beginning,

it’s just part of what we’re excited for.

We’re in it for the longhaul; we’re in it for parenthood.

Because much like after your engagement season

& after your wedding day

the excitement of others anticipating with you and counting down to

“the big day” fades,

but THE BEST PART , the whole reason we got engaged remains;

marriage.

And as you know, everyday Greg and I remain counting up.

So whenever this child of ours decides to make his or her debut,

we fully anticipate after our pregnancy season,

& after our long awaited delivery day

the excitement of others anticipating with you and counting down to

“the big day” will fade,

but THE BEST PART , the whole reason for pregnancy for us remains;

parenthood.

Engagement // Pregnancy

Wedding Day // Delivery Day

Marriage // Parenthood
